Android app for truck drivers and freight planners

Check your axle loads before you hit the road

Enter the weight and length of each load, slide it along the trailer, and Axle Plan instantly shows the load on every axle and the gross weight.

Example: a 20 t load on a combination with default settings. The numbers come from the same model the app uses.

One heavy coil or several different goods

Axle Plan handles both. For the truck or HGV driver at the loading dock, the planner preparing the load plan, and anyone who wants to know the result before driving onto the weighbridge.

Concentrated load

A steel coil, a machine, a block of stone – over ten tonnes on two metres of floor. Half a metre either way decides whether you overload the drive axle or the trailer axles.

Several goods of different weights

Pallets, mixed cargo, multiple drop-offs. Each load has its own weight, length and position on the trailer, and the app adds up how they load every axle together.

How it works

  1. Settings screen: unladen axle loads and vehicle dimensions

    Set up your vehicle

Enter the unladen axle loads and the dimensions: where the kingpin and the axles are. You set the permitted axle loads and weights yourself, according to the rules that apply to you.

  2. Main screen with four loads on the trailer and axle loads

    Add your loads

Tap + to add a load and enter its weight and length. Drag it along the trailer drawing with your finger, or type in where it starts.

  3. Loads arranged automatically, every axle at 92% of its limit

Check the result or use the wand

Axle loads update as you go. The wand arranges the loads for you: first it looks for a layout within the limits, then for one where the axles are loaded evenly.

Everything that matters on one screen

  • Load on every axle

Tractor steer and drive axles, plus the combined load on the three trailer axles.

  • Tractor and gross weight

Both are always visible above the drawing of the combination.

  • Colours you can see at a glance

Limit usage in percent next to every axle. Green – fine, orange – above 90%, red – over the limit.

  • Drive axle minimum

The drive axle’s share of the gross weight, with a warning when it drops below the minimum you set.

  • Automatic arrangement

One button places the loads for you. If the limits can’t be met, you see which values remain exceeded.

  • Your limits

Change the permitted axle loads, tractor weight, gross weight and drive axle minimum in the settings.

  • Works offline

All calculations run on your phone, and the data you enter is never sent anywhere.

  • No account

No sign-up, no login. Your settings and the last load layout stay on your phone.

  • 15 languages, light and dark theme

Switch the language and theme at any time with a single tap.

Supported combination

Axle Plan calculates axle loads for one, the most common configuration. Here is exactly what the app does and does not take into account.

  • A two-axle tractor unit and a three-axle 13.6 m semi-trailer.
  • You enter dimensions a–e yourself: the kingpin, the tractor axles and the centre of the trailer axles.
  • The three trailer axles are calculated together, as one group.
  • Load width is not taken into account.
  • The result is an estimate and does not replace weighing the vehicle.

Subscription

Vehicle setup and limits are available without a subscription. Adding, moving and automatically arranging loads requires a yearly subscription on Google Play.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate axle weight?

Axle weight depends on how heavy the cargo is and where it sits on the trailer. A load near the front presses on the tractor through the kingpin, mostly on the drive axle. A load near the rear goes onto the trailer axles. By hand, you work it out from the load’s distance to the kingpin and to the centre of the trailer axles. Axle Plan does this for every load and adds up the result.

Does the app replace weighing?

No. The result is an estimate that depends on the data you enter. You are responsible for the accuracy of that data and for complying with transport regulations.

Do I need an internet connection?

Not for calculations. The app does everything on your phone. The internet is only needed for the Google Play subscription.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There are no accounts and no login. Your settings and the last load layout are stored only on your phone.

What are the default limits?

Steer axle 7.5 t, drive axle 11.5 t, trailer axles 24 t, tractor 18 t, gross combination weight 40 t, and at least 25% of the gross weight on the drive axle. You can change every one of them in the settings.

Will the app work for my combination?

If you drive a two-axle tractor unit with a three-axle 13.6 m semi-trailer – yes.

What happens when my subscription expires?

The loads are removed from the trailer, while your vehicle settings and limits stay. Once you renew, you can add loads again straight away.
